Toreros Battle Tough at UC San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. â€" Competing in their final meet before the MPSF Championships, the USD Swim & Dive team fell at UC San Diego 197-96 Saturday afternoon. Alex Hubel (200 fly) and Danielle Taylor (100 fly) each notched first place finishes.

Hubel won the 200 fly for the third meet in a row; she finished in 2:05.33. She also took fourth place in the 100 fly with a time of 58.05.

Taylor had three top three individual finishes. She took first in the 100 fly (56.71), second in the 100 free (52.26), and third in the 50 free (24.48).

Mackenna Briggs earned a second place finish in the 200 free (1:55.05) and the 500 free (5:03.94). She also took fourth in the 100 free (54.11).

Senior Danielle Deiparine had the third best time in the 100 breast (1:08.43) and the 200 IM (2:13.45), and took fourth in the 200 breast (2:27.43).

The Toreros finished the meet strong by finishing the 400 free relay in 3:34.64 (Hubel, Gwen Walter, Deiparine, and Briggs).

The Toreros will have next week off before beginning the MPSF Championship February 15.
