SANTA CLARA, Calif. - San Diego's pursuit of its second WCC title came to a close with a 3-0 defeat at Santa Clara on Thursday night.

The Toreros (8-10, 6-2 WCC) were unable to convert on their opportunities and slow down the Broncos (12-6-1, 7-1 WCC) potent attack.

USD is officially eliminated from the conference title race. The Toreros needed to win both of its matches this weekend and hope for a Pepperdine loss or tie.

Amber Michel played well in goal, making five saves on 11 shots - including eight on frame.

USD had its opportunities, generating eight shots but could only manage one on frame. Ally Ocon paced the attack with two shots, while six players contributed a shot apiece.

It was a team effort for the Toreros which utilized 18 players throughout the match.

The Toreros will look to end the season on a high note when it takes on San Francisco on Saturday at 7 p.m. (PT).
