Day 1 Results PRO Compression

Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. â€" The USD golf team is playing host to the 2017 PRO Compression Invitational at the Farms Golf Club (par 72; yardage 6,947) in Rancho Santa Fe. Second round play was suspended due to darkness and will commence beginning at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Players will then continue play and roll right into the third and final round.

Following the first round the Toreros found themselves in 10th place with a team total of 302. Nearing the completion of the second round they had moved up to 7th place. UC Santa Barbara is the clubhouse leader after round one with a total of 9-under par 279. They were seven strokes better than Wichita State. Yannick Emmert of Wichita State fired a 9-under par 63 from the Black Tees, just one shy of the course record set by former Torero head coach Tim Mickelson.

Senior Nick Baines fired USD's best score in the opening round with his even-par 72, good for a tie for 16th place. He was followed by Daniel Lopez (T26 at 75), George Gardner (T33 at 76), Nathan Zhao (T50 at 79) and Camilo Mexsen (T56 at 81). A trio of Toreros are competing as individuals â€" Regan Kilpatrick (T33 at 76), Zack Wagner (T44 at 78) and Dalton Hankamer (T56 at 81).
