NEW ORLEANS, Louis. â€" For the second night in a row, the Toreros (8-3) broke a tie in the seventh inning to earn a victory at Tulane. On Friday, the Toreros entered the seventh inning tied 3-3 and then scored three runs on their way to a 7-4 win. Kevin Collard paced the Toreros, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored. USD has now won seven of their last eight games.

The Toreros battle Tulane again on Saturday with the first pitch scheduled for 11:00 a.m PT. The game was originally scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. but was moved up due to forecasted rain in the evening,

The Toreros jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Roman Garcia doubled with one out, his team-high fifth of the season. Kevin Collard then belted his first home run of the season over the right field wall.

The Green Wave responded with a Grant Witherspoon two run homer in the bottom of the third and then took the lead in the fifth with another homer, this one a solo shot from Hunter Hope.

The Toreros tied it up the following inning when Colton Waltner was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Waltner has been hit by a pitch a team-high five times this season.

USD then retook the lead in the seventh with three runs on three hits. The first run of the inning came on a Kevin Collard bases loaded walk. Two batters later, Aidan Stinnett hit a pinch-hit two-run single to right field.

Nick Sprengel (4-0) was lifted after six strong innings where he allowed three runs on fours hits and struck out seven, walking just one. Sean Barry pitched the seventh inning, allowing one run on a two-out double to the gap.

Troy Conyers came on to pitch the final two innings, allowing just one hit and striking out four to earn his fourth save of the season. The senior lefty hasn't allowed a run in his 11 innings pitched this season.
