USD vs DePaul Boxscore 
SAN DIEGO -- The USD Toreros earned a 4-3 victory over visiting DePaul University today to see their season record improve to 12-12. Junior OF Kailey Hill (Ramona, Calif.) ripped a one-out RBI double to right center that scored Shannon McKeon from second base for the game-winning run. The Toreros overcame a 3-0 deficit through the top of the fifth inning for their second straight victory.
DePaul (13-12), a member of the Big East Conference, jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning with Megan Leyva (San Diego / Mt. Carmel HS) and Morgan Greenwood each supplying RBI singles. Nicole Pihl added a home run to left field in the top of the fifth for the Blue Demons.
San Diego (12-12) finally got untracked offensively in the bottom of the fifth with three runs to knot the score at 3-all. Lindsay Clare opened the inning with a double and was followed by singles from Shannon McKeon and Taylor Spence. The Toreros would then receive an RBI single from Olivia Sandusky; an RBI from Sara Sliveyra who was hit by a pitch; and an RBI from Madison Casiano on a sacrifice fly to center that scored Savannah Shields.
Neither team would score until USD's game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Lauren Berriatua pitched the final five innings, giving up just 3 hits and no runs, to see her record improve to 5-3. Taylor Spence was the lone Torero to collect 2 hits, while Shannon McKeon scored two of the team's four runs. DePaul was paced by Micah Fitzgerald who went 3-for-5 at the plate.
The Toreros now head to the Gaucho Classic II this Friday and Saturday. Friday's games will be at 10:00 a.m. (Seattle U.) and 3:00 p.m. (UCSB). On Saturday the game times will be 9:00 a.m. (Seattle U.) and 11:15 a.m. (UCSB).
