Santa Barbara, Calif. - The USD Toreros improved to 13-14 with this morning's 7-5 victory over Seattle University in the Gaucho Classic II Tournament. Senior Megan Sabbatini pitched the final 5.2 innings to earn her 4th victory of the season. The Toreros trailed 2-0 after two innings, but Olivia Sandusky blasted a 3-run homer to left in the top of the third to give USD a lead they would not lose. Scoring in front of her were Shannon McKeon and Taylor Spence â€" each reached base with singles.

The Toreros improved their lead to 5-2 in the top of the fifth when Kailey Hill's 2-run single knocked in McKeon and Spence again. After Seattle added a run in the bottom of the fifth, the Toreros added two more runs in the 6th when Lauren Kane reached on an error which plated both Frankie Perales and Spence. Leading 7-5 going into the bottom of the 7th, Sabbatini closed out the game with three consecutive outs.

For the game Taylor Spence reached base four times with 1 hit and 3 walks, and scored 3 runs. Along with Sandusky's 3-run homer, Frankie Perales (2-for-4) and Shannon McKeon (2-for3, 2 runs) had solid offensive outings.

The Toreros will close out tourney play with a final game against UC Santa Barbara.
