SAN DIEGO – San Diego takes on a pair of rivals this week when it travels to San Diego State and plays host to No. 1 BYU.
The Toreros (7-7, 4-1 WCC) make a quick trip down the I-8 freeway to open the week against the Aztecs (2-14) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. PT. USD then plays host to the No. 1-ranked Cougars (15-0, 5-0 WCC) on Friday at 7 p.m.
The Toreros and BYU have combined to win the past six WCC championships and 10 of the past 12.
Tuesday's match at San Diego State will be streamed on the Mountain West Network and Friday's contest will be streamed on theW.tv. Live statistics will be available for both matches via USDToreros.com.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros went 3-0 last week and extended its winning streak to four matches. USD played three matches in five days and dropped just one set in the stretch.
• USD traveled to Loyola Marymount to earn a, 3-1, victory before returning home for a pair of matches in which it swept Portland, 3-0, and Gonzaga, 3-0.

Addie Picha had a big week, leading the Toreros with a .559 attacking percentage and racking up a team-high 23 blocks in three games. She averaged 2.00 kills per set and 2.30 blocks per set.

Lauren Fuller paced the Toreros attack with a team-high 34 kills (3.40 kills per set) and was tied for third on the team with 12 digs.
• Picha registered a career-high 12 blocks to lead USD to a 3-1 victory at LMU. Three Toreros hit double-digits in kills, led by Fuller with 12.
Roxie Wiblin and
Katie Lukes contributed 10 kills apiece.
• Fuller racked up 15 kills to lead San Diego to a dominating, 3-0, victory against Portland.
Megan Jacobsen and
Katie Lukes both played well and contributed eight kills and three blocks apiece.

Katie Lukes recorded 10 kills apiece to lead USD to a dominating victory against Gonzaga. The Toreros started the match on a 12-0 run and never looked back en route to a 25-12, 25-22, 25-11, victory.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST SAN DIEGO STATE
• USD is 31-23 all-time against San Diego State and have won each of the past five matches, and 15 of the past 16.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST NO. 1 BYU
• The Toreros are 8-8 all-time against the Cougars and have split the season series in each of the past two years. USD dropped a 3-1 decision at home last season against BYU but returned the favor later in the season with a 3-1 win in Provo.
USD ALL-TIME AGAINST NO. 1-RANKED TEAMS
• The Toreros are 1-10 all-time against teams ranked No. 1. However, USD is 1-2 in home matches against top-ranked teams in the country. The Toreros lone victory was a, 3-1, decision against USC on Sept. 13, 2013.
• The last time the Toreros took on the No. 1-ranked team was Dec. 4, 2015, when it fell to USC, 3-0, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

• The Toreros have gotten significant contributions from its freshman class this season.
Kelli Barry has been excellent at libero and leads the team with 147 digs.

IN THE RANKINGS
• USD dropped out of the AVCA Coaches Poll for the first time in 37 weeks on Sept. 24. The Toreros debuted at No. 14 preseason poll and are still receiving votes in the poll. The Toreros had been ranked in the AVCA Top-25 for 36 consecutive weeks.
