SAN DIEGO – San Diego secured eight individual victories and won both relay events in the 16 event double-dual meet to beat LMU, 223-71, and Pepperdine, 203-96, on Saturday morning at Sports Center Pool.

"It was a great team effort," said head coach
Mike Keeler. "They had the ability to swim the events that they wanted to and they came through."

Sam Terranova's win in the 500 free was the highlight of the meet. She swam 5:06.26 which is faster than her time at conference last year and is her fastest time in a non-technical suit.
Danielle Taylor finished behind her in second at 5:08.13.

The Toreros won the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Free Relay, making them undefeated in the relays at the WCC Cup. USD A consisting of – Taylor,
Abigail Russell,
Alex Hubel, and
Alexa Phillips – finished first in the 200 Relay at 1:49.12.

 The win in the 400 free relay – consisting of Phillips,
Maeve Murdoch,
Taylor Doherty, and Hubel – was much closer. USD and Pepperdine were neck and neck, but Hubel created distance in the final leg between the two teams with her 51.96 split. USD finished first at 3:35.44.

The Toreros worked together to finish in the top-three places in the 1650 free, 50 free, and the 200 IM.
Liza Kuznetsova won the 1650 free at 17:49.36,
Anna Luckenbach finished second at 18:05.44, and
Grace Potis finished third at 18:17.75. Taylor won the 50 free at 24.48, Hubel finished second at 25.04, and Phillips was right behind and 25.12. Russel won the 200 IM at 2:13.34, Terranova finished second at 2:13.88, and
Sabrina Firnett finished third at 2:14.33.

Even some freshmen swimmers finished first in a couple of events. Russell won the 200 breast at 2:26.62 and the 200 IM. Freshman
Lauren Quincy won the 200 back at 2:10.06.

Other wins for the team include Hubel in the 100 fly at 56.68,
MK Clancy in the 200 fly at 2:12.03, and Taylor in the 200 free at 1:54.28.

Isabel Busyn and
Catie McCarthy were our top finishers in the one meter diving events. Busyn placed second in the first diving event with 239.11 points and McCarthy placed third in the second diving event with 153.00 points.

The Toreros will have a couple weeks off in competition, before they head to the UNLV Invite on Nov. 29.
