San Diego travels to Pepperdine for final WCC match

SAN DIEGO – San Diego travels to Pepperdine on Saturday for their final conference match of the season at 1 p.m. (PT).

LAST TIME OUT
  • The Toreros split a pair of matches over the weekend, with an overtime heartbreaker 2-1 loss against No. 6 Santa Clara and a shutout win against San Francisco, 1-0.
  • Milan Moses scored an equalizing goal against the Broncos in the 89th minute. She battled three defenders and took a shot from the top of the box to the top right corner of the goal.
  • Summer Mason scored the game winning goal on Senior Day against USF with five minutes left in the match. She stole the ball from the Dons, sprinted 80 yards down the right side past three defenders, and finished it off to the left side of net.
  • Amber Michel recorded her third shutout this conference season against the Dons.


PEPPERDINE ALL-TIME RECORD
  • USD has an all-time record of 10-13-2 against Pepperdine (10-6-2, 5-1-2). In their last meet up, No. 13 Pepperdine won, 3-0. USD's last wins against the Waves were in 2014 (2-1) and 2015 (1-0 OT).
DYNAMIC DUO LEADS THE ATTACK
  • Mason and Moses have been the most dangerous up top. Moses leads the team with thirteen goals and 29 points.
  • Moses has scored five game-winning goals this season, which ties the USD all-time record for game winning goals in a season.
  • Moses is ranked second in the WCC in points per a game, 1.71, and goals per a game, 0.76.
  • Mason is second in the WCC for shots per game, 4.41.
  • As a team, the Toreros rank second in the conference in corners, averaging 5.88 a game.
  • USD's five goals to beat San Diego State, 5-2, are the most goals the Toreros have scored in a single game since Aug. 29, 2014, when they defeated No. 10 Michigan, 5-0.
QUALITY DEFENDING
  • Michel has registered four or more saves in eleven-of-seventeen matches this year, including a career-best 13 stops against Georgia (Aug. 19).
  • Michel is second in the WCC in saves per game (5.10) and in save percentage (.786).
  • The Toreros backline – consisting primarily of Michaela Foster, Kelley Carusa, Devyn Kelsey, and Mina Ghazizadeh- has played well to limit the opposition's attack and keep the Toreros within striking distance in each game.
FRESH LEGS
  • Moses, the red shirt junior transfer from SDSU, has made an immediate impact to offense. She leads the team in goals and shots on goal.
  • Kelsey a junior transfer from ASU, has made an impact on the Toreros back line. She has started in the last three matches. Over the summer, she played in the U-19 US Women's National Team Camp. She scored her first goal as a Torero against Saint Mary's to secure USD's win 1-0. (Oct.18).
