SAN DIEGO – San Diego gets a second chance to take down No. 1 BYU when it travels to the Cougars on Friday at 6 p.m.
 
The Toreros (13-9, 10-2 WCC) have found their rhythm in conference play and enter Friday's contest on a six-match winning streak. USD won last season's meeting in Provo, 3-1.
 
USD is currently in second place and will look to close the gap on the first-place Cougars (22-0, 12-0).
 
Friday's match will be televised on BYUtv and live statistics will be available via USDToreros.com.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros went 2-0 last week with victories at Gonzaga (3-0) and at Portland (3-2).
 
• Addie Picha and Roxie Wiblin recorded 10 kills apiece to lead San Diego to its fifth straight sweep with a, 3-0, victory at Gonzaga. USD extended its winning streak against the Bulldogs to 47 matches and have won 18 straight sets against Gonzaga.
 
•  Picha led the way with a .562 hitting percentage. Megan Jacobsen racked up eight kills and hit .462 on the night.
 
• Anna Newsome and Laura Madill did well to set the Toreros up for success with 21 and 16 assists, respectively.
 
• Four San Diego players registered double-digits in kills to lead San Diego to its sixth straight victory with a, 3-2, win at Portland on Saturday afternoon.
 
• Roxie Wiblin led the Toreros offensively with 13 kills. Addie Picha and Megan Jacobsen registered 11 apiece, while Katie Lukes chipped in 10. The Toreros hit .215 on the match but delivered when it mattered most, hitting .688 in the deciding fifth set.
 
•  Picha led the defensive effort at the net with four blocks, while Wiblin recorded three. Kelli Barry notched a season-high 28 digs.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST BYU
• USD is 8-9 all-time against the Cougars and have split the season series in each of the past two years. The Toreros dropped a 3-1 decision at home earlier this season on Oct. 5. USD is the only WCC team to win a set against the Cougars and one of four teams all season to take a set from BYU.
 
USD ALL-TIME AGAINST NO. 1-RANKED TEAMS
• The Toreros are 1-12 all-time against teams ranked No. 1. USD is 1-4 in home matches against top-ranked teams in the country. The Toreros lone victory was a, 3-1, decision against USC on Sept. 13, 2013.
 
• The last time the Toreros took on the No. 1-ranked team was Oct. 5, 2018, when it fell to BYU, 3-1, in WCC play.

LEADING THE ATTACK
• Roxie Wiblin leads the team with 214 kills (2.71 per set). Addie Picha is second on the team with 178 kills (2.25 per set), followed by Lauren Fuller with 167 (2.74).
 
• Anna Newsome and Laura Madill have shared the responsibility at setter and pace the team with 511 and 360 assists, respectively.
 
PICHA AT THE NET
• Addie Picha has been stellar defensively and leads the Toreros with 115 blocks (1.46 per set). Picha has accounted for 66.8 percent of USD's blocks this season.
 
STRONG FIRST IMPRESSIONS
• The Toreros have gotten significant contributions from its freshman class this season. Kelli Barry has spent a majority of the time at libero and leads the team with 191 digs. Katie Lukes, Laura Madill and Annie Benbow have also contributed significant time in the lineup.
 
ON THE DEFENSIVE SIDE
• Freshman Kelli Barry has played well at libero and leads the team with 237 digs (3.43 per set). Roxie Wiblin is second on the team with 162 digs (2.05 per set).
