GOODWIN FIELD â€" The USD Toreros (10-11) dropped a 9-3 nonconference game at Cal State Fullerton (8-10) this evening in Fullerton. Tyler Herburger and Paul Kunst each collected two hits and knocked in a run, but it wasn't enough as the Titans broke open a 3-3 game with four runs in the 7th inning and added two more in the 8th.

Trailing 3-0 heading to the 5th inning the Toreros knotted the score a 3-all on five hits. With one out Jeff Houghtby singled to center field. Adam Kerner's single to left scored Houghtby from third. Tyler Herburger knocked a double to center that plated Kerner. Paul Kunst followed with a single to left that scored Kerner. Tora Otsuka would add a single before the end of the inning.

In the 7th inning Anthony Donatella was called in from the bullpen with the bases loaded and one out. He gave up a 2-run single to Jairus Richards and a double up the middle to Mitchell Berryhill with the Titans taking a 7-3 lead. CSF would tack on two more runs in the 8th inning to improve their record to 8-10. Shortstop Sahid Valenzuela led all players with three hits in four at-bats.

Five different Torero pitchers gave up 11 hits in allowing the nine Titan runs. The Toreros collected 10 hits on the night but stranded six. Torero reliever drops to 0-1 on the season after he gave up 3 runs on 2 hits in the middle of the contest. J. Wills picked up the win for the Titans as he allowed 4 hits and no runs in 2.1 innings of work.
