Final Stats

San Diego 6, UC Riverside 4

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - San Diego earned a pair of victories at UC Riverside on Saturday to extend its winning streak to four games.

The Toreros (18-14) opened the day with a 6-4 win, followed by a convincing 8-1 victory to remain unbeaten on the day.

USD managed just four hits in the first game but made them count. Kailey Hill hit a two-run home run in the first inning and Sara Silveyra hammered a three-run homer in the third. Halle Kyler, who started in the circle and got the win, hit an RBI-single in her first collegiate at-bat to give the Toreros its sixth run in the fourth inning.

That was all USD needed as Kyler (5-7) and the Toreros held the Highlanders (22-11) to just four runs on nine hits. Kyler permitted three walks while raking up six strikeouts in 6.0 innings. Delaney Heller took over in the bottom of the seventh and picked up her first save of the season, retiring the side in order.

Hill led USD offensively, going 1-for-2 with two RBIs, two runs and two walks. Silveyra, Katie Vretzos and Kyler registered the Toreros other three hits.

San Diego 8, UC Riverside 1

Hannah Boos turned in another stellar performance in the circle to lead San Diego to its second victory on the day.

Boos (7-2) held UC Riverside to one run on seven hits and one walk with two strikeouts in a complete-game effort. It was her fourth complete game of the season.

The Toreros offense picked up from the first game and generated eight hits. Vretzos went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Shelbi Evans went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Lindsay Clare also had a nice game offensively, going 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run.

Kailey Hill continued her strong day, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs.

The Toreros jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning and made it 5-1 with a pair of runs in the fifth. A three-run sixth inning extended USD's lead to 8-1. Boos kept the Highlanders off the board to secure the victory for the Toreros.

USD will look to keep the momentum going and extend its winning-streak to five games when it concludes its series against UC Riverside at 1 p.m. PT.
