It was the second consecutive game the Toreros won in extra innings after defeating Santa Clara, 4-2, in 10 innings in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Along with Kane's strong offensive day that included a 2-for-4 outing with two RBIs, Madison Casiano also produced a multi-hit performance (2-for-4) with two doubles and scored the game-winning run.
Sara Silveyra went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI, while Lindsay Clare went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Delaney Heller shouldered a majority of the load in the circle, going 5 2/3 innings and holding the Broncos to two runs on 10 hits and one walk with three strikeouts. Halle Kyler (6-7) entered the game in relief and picked up the win, holding the Broncos scoreless on one hit and no walks in 2.0 innings.
With the game tied, 1-1, through the first three innings, USD took a 2-1 lead in the fourth when Kane hit her first RBI-single to bring in Shannon McKeon. The Toreros added another run in the next inning to take a 3-1 lead when Clare doubled to left field to bring in Silveyra.
However, the Broncos would not go down quietly and scored a run in the sixth and seventh innings to level the score at 3-3 and send the game to extra innings.
Kane provided the decisive hit with one out to bring in Casiano and put the Toreros up, 4-3.
Kyler retired the side in order in the bottom half of the inning to secure the victory and series win.
