SAN DIEGO – Lauren Fuller racked up 17 kills to help lead No. 19 San Diego to a, 3-1, home-opening victory against No. 12 Baylor in front of an electric crowd Saturday night in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Toreros fans and the Bull Pit student section packed the pavilion to watch the Toreros (1-2) take down its first top-15 opponent of the season.

Fuller led the charge with a team-high 17 kills to go along with eight digs, which tied
Roxie Wiblin for the second-most among Toreros. Wiblin also reached double-digits in kills with 10.

USD's defense was excellent throughout the match.
Addie Picha posted team-high six blocks, including two that provided set-clinching points in the second and fourth sets.

Kelli Barry led the Toreros with nine digs and chipped in four assists.

Laura Madill and
Anna Newsome helped balanced USD's attack and contributed 20 and 18 assists, respectively.

The Bears (4-2) leaned heavily on Yossiana Pressley who tallied a match-high 24 kills. Philo Aniah and Shelly Fannie added 13 and 10 kills, respectively.

USD will have quick turnaround for its next match, playing host to No. 10 UCLA on Sunday at 5 p.m. PT.
