SAN DIEGO -Â San Diego begins its 2018-19 season this Friday at 2 p.m. (PT) against San Diego State at Aztec Aquaplex.

The meet will be in a pentathlon format with the first five events being the 100 free, 100 fly, 100 back, 100 breast, 100 IM. The meet concludes with a set of sprints, followed by 400 IM and 500 free.

TEAM BREAKDOWN
The Toreros boast a balanced lineup, returning 18 swimmers from a year ago and adding 13 freshmen.Â

Alex Hubel return for USD after earning All-MPSF honors a year ago. The quartet broke three school records in the 200 medley relay, the 400 free relay, and the 800 free relay.

WINNING IN THE CLASSROOM
The Torero Scholar-athletes excelled in the classroom last year earning CSCAA Scholar All-America team honors, for having a 3.18 team GPA during the fall semester of 2017.

The award caps an impressive academic year for the Toreros, who also accumulated 10 MPSF All-Academic honors. The returners who received the awards are
