SAN DIEGO – No. 24 San Diego concludes its nine-match homestand and begins WCC play this weekend when it plays host to Saint Mary's and Pacific in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

The Toreros (3-6) open the weekend Thursday at 7 p.m. PT against the Gaels (8-2) before taking on the Tigers (5-6) on Saturday at noon.

LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros went 1-2 last weekend during the SDSU/USD Challenge. USD defeated Louisiana, 3-0, but dropped a, 3-0, decision to No. 16 USC and lost a close, 3-2, result to Oregon State.

Roxie Wiblin had a quality weekend overall, leading the Toreros with 35 kills (3.18 per set) and producing the second-most digs with 31.
Lauren Fuller (3.00 kills per set) and
Katie Lukes (2.80 kills per set) helped pace the offense.

Addie Picha led USD with 13 blocks, while
Kelli Barry registered a team-high 47 digs.
Anna Newsome contributed 71 assists, while
Laura Madill chipped in 56.

Katie Lukes recorded 10 kills but it was not enough for USD to take down No. 16 USC, as the Toreros fell, 3-0.
Roxie Wiblin registered nine kills and hit .273 on the night. However, the Toreros hit just. 129 on the night as a team and had trouble getting through USC at the net as the Trojans recorded 11 blocks.

• Three Toreros players recorded 10 kills apiece to power the Toreros to a dominating, 3-0, victory against Louisiana. After giving up the first point of the first set, USD (3-5) did not trail the Ragin' Cajuns (7-6) the remainder of the match.
Megan Jacobsen,
Lauren Fuller and
Addie Picha paced the Toreros offense with double-digit kills. Picha hit .529 on the match, while Jacobsen hit .444 and Fuller hit .364.

• A late comeback effort by No. 23 San Diego came up short as the Toreros fell to Oregon State, 3-2. After falling behind, 2-1, the Toreros (3-6) stormed back in the fourth set (25-18) to send the match to a deciding fifth set.

• Four Toreros reached double-digits in kills with
Roxie Wiblin leading the way with 18.
Lauren Fuller added 15, followed by
Addie Picha (11) and
Katie Lukes (10). The Toreros had a tough night offensively overall with the Beavers racking up 22 blocks.

• USD is 54-12 all-time against Saint Mary's and have won the past six matches, sweeping the past five.

• The Toreros are 12-0 all-time against the Tigers, going 10-0 since Pacific joined the WCC in 2013. The Tigers have taken the Toreros to five sets in two of the past four matches.

Lauren Fuller leads the Toreros with 101 kills and 3.06 kills per set.
Roxie Wiblin is second on the team with 91 kills (2.86 per set), followed by
Addie Picha with 74 (2.18 per set).

Laura Madill have shared the responsibility at setter and pace the team with 213 and 166 assists, respectively.

Addie Picha has been stellar defensively and leads the Toreros with 49 blocks (1.44 per set). Picha has accounted for 67 percent of USD's blocks this season.

STRONG FIRST IMPRESSIONS
• The Toreros have gotten significant contributions from its freshman class this season.
Kelli Barry has been excellent at libero and leads the team with 112 digs.
Katie Lukes,

Annie Benbow have also contributed significant time in the lineup.

• USD is ranked 24th in the fourth week of the AVCA Coaches Poll. The Toreros debuted at No. 14 preseason poll. The Toreros have been ranked in the AVCA Top-25 for 36 consecutive weeks.
