LOS ANGELES – Addie Picha registered a career-high 12 blocks to help lead San Diego to a, 3-1, victory at Loyola Marymount on Tuesday night.

The Toreros (5-7, 2-1 WCC) won their second straight match behind an elite showing by Picha at the net in which she recorded 12 of USD's 13 blocks on the night.

Three Toreros hit double-digits in kills, led by
Lauren Fuller with 12.
Roxie Wiblin and
Katie Lukes contributed 10 kills apiece. Fuller has registered at least 10 kills in 9-of-12 matches this season.

The Toreros were excellent offensively overall on the night, hitting .305 as a team. The Toreros started hot with a .361 hitting percentage in the first set and finished strong with a .423 clip in the fourth.

Anna Newsome and
Laura Madill facilitated a majority of the attack with 22 and 16 assists, respectively.

Payton Douglass and Madill led USD with 11 digs apiece.
The Toreros got off to a quick start in the first set and jumped out to a 10-6 lead. LMU tied the match at 11-11 and kept it close until the contest was tied 21-21. USD closed on a 4-1 run to seal the first-set decision, 25-22.

LMU found its rhythm in the second set and jumped out to leads of 13-9 and 23-16. The Toreros closed the gap to 24-19 but could not close the gap any further as the Lions won, 25-19, to level the match at, 1-1.

USD capitalized on an early 5-0 run to jump out to a 7-3 lead in the third and led until the Lions went on a 6-1 rally later in the set to tie it at, 17-17. The Toreros regrouped and closed out the set on a 6-3 run to win, 25-21, and take a 2-1 lead.

USD again jumped out to a quick lead in the fourth, securing eight of the first 11 points to go up, 8-3. This time, the Toreros would not relinquish its lead and held at least a two-point advantage throughout the duration of the set.

The Toreros secured the fourth set, 25-20, to earn the 3-1 decision.

USD returns home for a pair of matches against Portland on Thursday at 7 p.m. (PT) and Gonzaga on Saturday at noon.
