SAN DIEGO - San Diego women's soccer (5-6-1, 1-2 WCC) will look to remain unbeaten at home with a matchup on Friday night against LMU (3-8-2, 2-1 WCC). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (PT)
HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE
The Toreros are currently undefeated at home in 2019 and will put a 4-0 home record on the line on Friday. For the first time in program history, San Diego has posted four consecutive shutouts in its first four games at home, outscoring opponents 13-0 in Torero Stadium.
The program saw a six-game shutout streak in 2017 from September 2 through October 14 after winning its home opener 2-1 versus No. 19 Wake Forest. San Diego qualified for the NCAA Tournament later that season, losing to Oklahoma State in the opening round.
Last time at home, USD dominated St. Mary's 5-0 scoring four goals off of set pieces from corner kicks. San Diego created a 3-0 advantage at the half with
Michaela Foster,
Kelley Carusa, and
Madison Louderback finding the back of the net.
Eden Quiroz scored her first collegiate goal on an unassisted corner then
Emma Barrow connected with Carusa in the 60th minute to seal the victory.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
LMU is coming off a 1-0 double overtime loss to Pepperdine in their third WCC match of the year. The Lions held off the Wave until the 105th minute, when a defender shot a hard ball into the upper 90 out of reach of Sadie Kenny.
The Lions are currently tied for third in the conference, tallying wins against San Francisco and Pacific.
Freshman Amber McCorkle leads LMU with three goals and seven points on the season in 13 games played. Simone Handy, Maki Kono and Siafro Abekah have two goals each so far in 2019. Goalkeepers Lee Erickson and Sadie Kenny have split time in goal this season, and both have at least 15 saves on the year.
