San Diego Rounds Out WCC Play

The Toreros will take on Pacific and Portland this week

 SAN DIEGO - The Toreros (6-9-1, 2-5 WCC) will wrap up WCC play with two contests this week versus Pacific (3-15, 0-7 WCC) and Portland (6-5-2, 2-3-2 WCC). San Diego will kick off at 7 p.m. (PT) at home on Wednesday versus the Tigers, before traveling to take on the Pilots at 7 p.m. (PT) on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
San Diego suffered its first home loss of the 2019 season on Friday in a 1-0 overtime match against Pepperdine.
 
Amber Michel was a force in net for the Toreros recording 12 saves on the night off 34 shots faced. The redshirt senior tied her season-high in saves and held the Waves until the 97th minute.
 
Pepperdine executed on a penalty kick opportunity in the 97th to secure the 1-0 victory.
 
Milan Moses led the way on offense with four shots on the night and one on goal.
 
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Pacific is coming off a 3-0 loss at home versus Portland. The Tigers held the Pilots to one goal in the first 45 before Portland pulled away in the second half scoring twice.
 
The Tigers have struggled on the road in 2019 with a 2-7 away record. Their last road win dates back to September 15, when the Tigers downed LIU 1-0 in Brookville.
 
Hunter More, Ryanne Molennar and Kelsey Oen have each scored twice for Pacific this season. Isabella Pariente leads the way with six points and 34 shots on the season. Freshman Weronika Baranowska has seen the most minutes in net for the Tigers recording 42 saves on the year.
 
San Diego owns the all-time series against Pacific at 12-1-0. The Toreros sole loss in the series dates back to 2005, where San Diego lost 1-0 at home. USD has outscored the Tigers 34-5 in 13 matches.
 
SCOUTING THE PILOTS
Portland is coming off a 2-1 double overtime win against San Francisco and a 3-0 win against Pacific. The Pilots will take on LMU on the road on Wednesday before the matchup against the Toreros.
 
Taryn Ries has served as the Pilots top scorer with eight goals on the year. The junior forward has recorded a .469 shot on goal percentage and 20 points so far in 2019.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Jenny Wahlen has seen the most action in net starting 13 games this season. Wahlen has recorded 50 saves in over one thousand minutes of action.
 
The Pilots hold advantage in the all-time series at 7-18-2. San Diego has struggled both at home and on the road against the Pilots. The Toreros were on a four-game winning streak against Portland before falling 4-1 at home in 2018.
