SAN DIEGO—San Diego continues its two-week stretch of road games, traveling to face BYU on Saturday at 1 p.m. PT in Provo, Utah.

The Toreros (8-18, 1-14 WCC) will play their final road game of the season against the Cougars (20-6, 12-3 WCC) who are coming off a 66-64 win over Gonzaga last Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros fell to Gonzaga (71-44) and Portland (96-74) on their road trip to the Pacific Northwest last weekend.

•The Toreros struggled to keep pace with the high-powered Bulldogs offense that went 67 percent from the field in the first half on 14-of-21 shooting to build a comfortable lead and never looked back.

Leticia Soares scored a team-high 10 points, while
Madison Pollock added eight points, 10 rebounds and two steals for San Diego.

Aminata Dosso chipped in seven points, while
Sydney Shepard led the Toreros with 3 assists.

•It was all Gonzaga in the first half, as the Bulldogs went 14-of-21 from the field and hit 5-of-8 from three-point range to lead San Diego, 42-12, at halftime.

•The Toreros offense began to find a rhythm and opened the second half on a 10-0 run, but the Bulldogs quickly answered with a 10-point run of their own to halt USD's momentum.Â

•San Diego matched the Bulldogs shot-for-shot in the third period and outscored the Bulldogs 16-13 in the final quarter, but the deficit proved too much to overcome.

•Soares scored a career-high 23 points and three other Toreros reached double-digit scoring in the loss at Portland on Saturday afternoon.

Sydney Hunter finished with 12 points, while
Madison Pollock and
Sydney Shepard each added 11 points. Pollock added six rebounds and a team-high five assists while Shepard went 3-of-8 from three-point range.

Patricia Brossmann chipped in nine points and collected a team-high eight rebounds.

•Portland jumped out to a 27-19 through one quarter, but USD answered in the second with three three-point baskets and six points from Soares to tie it up 42-42 at halftime.

•Soares added eight points in the third period and seven in the fourth but the Toreros could not overcome a strong third quarter from Portland, in which the Pilots outscored USD 33-12.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST BYU
• The Cougars lead the all-time series with the Toreros, 13-6. Earlier this season, USD dropped a close contest at home, 56-65.Â

• In a game that saw four ties and eight lead changes, the Toreros limited the Cougars to just 36 percent from the field and 6-of-26 from three-point range.
Madison Pollock recorded her second double-double of the season, finishing with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Sydney Shepard tied Pollock with a team-high 12 points, on 4-of-11 from three-point range.

NOTEABLE ABSENCESÂ
• San Diego suffered multiple injuries at the midpoint this season and is currently without starting guard
Myah Pace, as well as
Ana Ramos and Karla Martínez. This is in addition to season-ending injuries suffered by
Kat Olczak,
Nicole Blakes and
Kendall Bird early in the season.

Madison Pollock is currently averaging a team-high 10.9 points per game and is second on the team in rebounds, averaging 6.1 per game to rank 12th in the conference.Â

Patricia Brossmann leads the team in rebounds (7.3 avg), steals (1.3 avg) and has a team-high eight double-doubles this season which ranks second in the WCC. Brossmann currently ranks seventh in the WCC in rebounding and third in offensive rebounds (2.9 avg). She also ranks eighth in field-goal percentage (49.8) and is averaging 10.8 points per game.
