SAN DIEGO – San Diego will take on five teams as part of the San Diego Classic this weekend, which it is co-hosting with San Diego State.

Ten games will be played at the USD Softball Complex as part of the tournament weekend with the Toreros (5-9) playing host to Weber State, Florida Gulf Coast, UC Davis, UIC and San Jose State.

USD enters the weekend on a three-game winning streak after sweeping Southern Utah in a three-game series last weekend.

Lindsay Clare and
Taylor Spence paced the Toreros offensively over the three games, both batting .625 (5-for-8) with three runs and an RBI apiece.

Sara Silveyra and
Sophia Bjerk both went 4-for-7 (.571). Silveyra led USD with three doubles and scored three runs. Bjerk led USD with five RBIs and registered a double and a triple.

Kelli Kufta hit .556 (5-for-9) with two doubles, a triple, two run and four RBIs on the weekend.

Delaney Heller (3-4) pitched well in two victories and posted a 0.70 ERA in 10.0 innings. She racked up 13 strikeouts and permitted just eight hits and three walks.

Heller was named the WCC Pitcher of the Week for her standout performance.
