Box Score BERKELEY, Calif. – San Diego was outpaced by California on Friday afternoon, as the Toreros fell 3-0 in Berkeley. The Golden Bears (4-0-0) outshot the Toreros (2-2-0) nine to six with six shots on target for the match.
Milan Moses led the Toreros with three shots, one on goal for the afternoon.
Cal's defense limited San Diego to only two shots in the first. In the 22nd minute,
Jamie Goralski missed just wide on the right side, then Moses was able to get her first shot off in the 34th minute with a run down the middle.
The Toreros' defense held steady in the first 45 minutes, holding the Bears to only three shots total.
Amber Michel earned her fourth straight start in goal for USD, recording two saves in the first.
Cal's Emma Westin struck early with a goal in the 24th minute to leave San Diego tailing by one at the half.
In the second period, Cal led an offensive barrage with six more shot attempts by six different players. Luca Deza and Westin were able to connect for goals in the 61st and 83rd minute.
Michaela Foster had a look early in the second half off of a free kick but was unable to connect in the top left corner. In the 76th minute, Moses broke away for the sole shot on goal for San Diego, but Cal's Angelina Anderson was there to make the save.
Bekah Valdez also got in on the action with her first shot of her collegiate career in the 86th minute but just missed outside the top right corner.
The Toreros will look to bounce back at home on Sunday as they take on Cal Poly at 2:30 p.m. (PT) as a part of a men's and women's soccer double header at Torero Stadium.
