SAN DIEGO - The Toreros (2-2) will travel to Lake Elsinore, Calif. this week for a slate of four games at the Golden State Classic for their second tournament of the 2020 season.

The Toreros will face Portland State (1-4) and Seton Hall (2-2) on Friday, before matchups against Utah State (1-4) and LIU (2-3) on Saturday morning.

LAST TIME OUT
- San Diego softball notched out two wins at the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Classic, before the second contest against Cal Poly was canceled due to rain on Sunday afternoon.
- The Toreros opened the 2020 season with a decisive 6-0 victory over Cal State-Bakersfield. Heller earned the shutout in the circle, and Sophia Bjerk led the Toreros at the plate going 2-for-2 with a double, home run, a walk and two RBIs.
- Heller compiled eight strikeouts against the Roadrunners and repeated the performance on Saturday in a 2-1 loss against Pittsburgh. The senior right hander gave up two runs on six hits and two walks.
- San Diego rallied after the early morning loss to the Panthers to beat Cal Poly 4-3. Sophomore Kelli Kufta scored the game winning run, executing a bunt attempt to give San Diego the lead in the bottom of the sixth.
- Madison Casiano was also potent at the plate in two contests, hitting .500 against Pitt and No. 4 UCLA with the sole RBIs in both games.
- Against No. 4 UCLA, the Toreros put themselves within striking distance early in the contest before the Bruins notched 15 hits off San Diego pitching to win the game 9-1 in five innings.

ALL-TIME SERIES NOTES
- Portland State holds advantage in the all-time series as San Diego is behind six games at 13-19. On neutral sites, the Vikings and the Toreros are split even at one a piece.
- Friday's 2 p.m. (PT) contest against Seton Hall will mark the first between the two programs.
- The Toreros own the all-time series against Utah State at 5-1. San Diego will look to snap a two-game losing streak, after Utah State beat the Toreros in run-rule fashion in 2017 and 2019.
- San Diego will also face LIU for the first time in program history with a matchup at 11:30 a.m. (PT) on Saturday.Â
TEAM OFFENSE
- San Diego's 12 runs over the weekend came in the form of effective team offense.
- The Toreros slugged nine doubles in four contests, compared to opponents five, and tallied 11 RBI.
- Seven players notched a double on the weekend with Rion Simms leading the way in the category with two.
- Sara Silveyra and Hayley Hensley lead the team in batting average at .364 on the season. Silveyra also leads the team in on base percentage at .417. With a homerun and a double on the year, Bjerk leads the Toreros in slugging percentage at .700.
- The Toreros also notched four sacrifice bunts in Los Angeles.Â
DELANEY DEALING
- The senior right hander leads San Diego's pitching staff in ERA through three appearances at 1.26.
- Heller saw 14.1 innings of action in Los Angeles and registered only two walks, while striking out 20.
- The Castro Valley native recorded back-to-back elite performances against Bakersfield and Pitt, striking out eight batters in both contests.
- Despite giving up three triples on the weekend, no home runs have been registered against Heller and the rest of the Toreros pitching staff.
- She managed only two earned runs in her three appearances and helped shutout the side against Cal Poly in the comeback victory.
IN THE ROTATION
- In relief for the Toreros, Courtney Rose registered the lowest ERA and gave up only six hits in four innings of work.
- Fellow freshman Savannah Alarcon also made an impact for San Diego's rotation, starting all four contests in center field. The lefty recorded two hits on the weekend with a double.
