27 Career Best Times Highlight MPSF

LOS ANGELES – San Diego swim and dive concluded its run at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championships on Saturday after bringing in 27 career-best times. 

The championships, which were held at East Los Angeles College, ran from Wednesday to Saturday and hosted eight schools. Lauren Quincy, Sabrina Firnett, Rachel Hubka, Elena Elie, Callie Johnson, Hannah Hudson, Abigail Russell, Haley Ohlson, Solaire Nazarenus-Olson, Mia Shaeffer, Alyssa Hornbuckle, and Rachel Tucker all recorded career-best times throughout the four-day championships. 

Johnson, a freshman from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, swam a season best time in the 400-yard IM with a 4:33.35, beating her previous best by 10 seconds. She finished 16th overall in the event. She also recorded a career-best in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.40), beating her previous time by point tenth of a second. 

Sophomore Hannah Hudson swam her way to a season best time of 56.42 in the 100-yard backstroke capturing 11th place and shaving a little over two seconds off from her previous best. She also swam a season best in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.16.
   
USD finished the conference championships with a score of 146, while the University of Hawaii led with a final score of 726.  

The Toreros return to the pool on March 12 for the NIC Championships.
