SAN DIEGO – San Diego will travel to take on No. 25 Long Beach State before playing host to Keio and Monmouth at Fowler Park.

The Toreros (6-1) will face the Dirtbags (5-2) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before hosting international opponent Keio University from Tokyo, Japan in an exhibition game on Thursday at 3 p.m. USD will then take on Monmouth (3-4) in a weekend series, Friday (6 p.m.), Saturday (4 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.).

LAST TIME OUT
• San Diego was impressive in week two, finishing 4-0 with three solid wins at the Tony Gwynn Legacy tournament. USD took care of UC Irvine, 9-1, on Tuesday before sweeping the weekend. The Toreros defeated Nebraska (12-11), Seattle U (6-2) and Iowa (10-5) to remain the only undefeated team in the city tournament co-hosted with San Diego State.

Shane McGuire and
Thomas Luevano each collected seven hits on the week. Luevano hit .412 with a double and two home runs in four starts. The grad transfer scored six runs and drove in seven more, posting a .824 slugging percentage and a .474 on-base percentage to earn WCC Player of the Week. McGuire started three games for USD, hitting .636 with a double and a home run. The junior scored five runs and drove in four more, posting a 1.100 slugging percentage and a .769 on-base percentage.

Grady Miller earned his first win of the season, getting two starts San Diego in week two. The lefty combined to pitch 10 innings, giving up seven hits, two runs, and two walks with 12 strikeouts in his two appearances for USD.

• The Toreros dominated their home opener over UC Irvine, 9-1. USD led from start to finish with standout performances at the plate from Luevano (2-for-4, 4 RBI, HR) and McGuire (3-for-3, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, 3 R). Miller pitched six shutout innings allowing two hits, one walk and striking out six.

• The Toreros combined to score eight runs in the seventh and eighth innings of a back and forth battle with Nebraska on Friday, eventually winning 12-11. The Huskers took an early 7-0 lead in the third inning, but the Toreros would not go quietly. A three-run homer by
Adam Kerner in the fourth cut into Nebraska's lead. The Torero offense exploded for five runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game 9-9, adding three more in the following inning to secure the win.

• USD's
Carter Rustad (2-0) and
Jake Miller combined for 13 strikeout's in the 6-2 victory over Seattle U on Saturday night. Rustad fanned eight batters, gave up one hit—a solo home run in the top of the fourth—and walked four in five innings of work. Miller went four innings, giving up one run on two hits, with two walks and striking out five Redhawks. Five players drove in a run for San Diego, and four came up with an extra base hit as the Toreros put together their third 10-hit outing of the week.

• In the finale of the Tony Gwynn Legacy tournament, the Toreros overcame an early 2-0 deficit to defeat Iowa, 10-5. Redshirt freshman
Dillon Lifrieri knocked his first career home run in eighth—in only his second at bat for the Toreros. Luevano also went yard, finishing the day 2-for-3.
Conner Thurman picked up his third victory of the young season, throwing 2.2 innings and giving up one run on four hits, allowing two walks and striking out four out of the bullpen.
LUEVANO EARNS WCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Thomas Luevano went 7-for-17 including a double and two home runs to earn Rawlings WCC Player of the Week for week two. The graduate transfer scored six runs and drove in seven more, posting a .824 slugging percentage and a .474 on-base percentage in four games.

• On Tuesday, Luevano went 2-for-5 with an RBI single and a solo homer in San Diego's 9-1 victory over UC Irvine. Luevano score twice for the Toreros and finished the day with four RBIs.

• In the first game of the Tony Gwynn Legacy Tournament, Luevano registered an RBI single in USD's dramatic comeback win over Nebraska, 12-11. The following day he went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in San Diego's 6-2 win over Seattle U. He wrapped up the weekend with a 2-for-3 performance, scoring three times for the Toreros including a two-run homer in the fifth inning of USD's 10-5 victory over Iowa.

• The Toreros have registered 10 or more hits in their last four games. USD has 67 hits on the year to rank fifth in the conference and 54th in the nation. USD is batting .285 as a team to rank third in the conference and 55th overall.

• The all-time series is tied 38-38-1 with the Dirtbags, with the teams splitting the series last season, 1-1. The Toreros took the first meeting at Long Beach, 4-0, before dropping the home contest 4-5.
