SAN DIEGO -Â The Toreros (17-10) will close out the regular-season with two home games against LMU and Pepperdine inside the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
Â
Saturday's contest against the Waves will be Senior Day as the Toreros will honor four seniors
Madison Pollock,
Patricia Brossmann,
Ana Ramos and
Leticia Soares.
Kat Olczak will also be recognized for her contributions to the program.Â
Â
Head coach
Cindy Fisher is three wins away from securing her seventh 20-win season during her tenure with USD and the first since 2015-16.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros split their final two road games, beating San Francisco on the road 61-58 before falling to Santa Clara in their final road contest of the regular season.
Â
• Against the Dons,
Erica Martinsen came through checking in with under 25 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to hit the game-winning three from deep off a pass from
Jordyn Edwards.
Â
• The Toreros had three players score in double figures, led by senior
Leticia Soares, who recorded 21 points for a new season-high, seven rebounds and two steals.
Jordyn Edwards added 20 points, eight rebounds and five steals, and
Sydney Hunter tacked on 12 points and two steals.
Â
• Soares pulled down seven offensive rebounds to pace San Diego's offense that racked up second chance opportunities, grabbing 12 boards and turning them into 14 second chance points.
Â
• San Diego built an 11-point lead in the third quarter before San Francisco worked its way back to take a two-point advantage with under three minutes remaining in the fourth. Edwards hit two back-to-back threes to create a two-point advantage with one and a half minutes to go before Martinsen secured the win in the final seconds.
Â
• A third quarter surge by the Broncos became too much for San Diego to overcome in Saturday's contest. San Diego once again had three players score in double figures, led by Hunter, who had 16 points and two steals. Soares added 13 points and six rebounds off the bench and Edwards chipped in as well with 11 points.Â
Â
• The Toreros were able to score 20 points in the fourth quarter, but couldn't pull any closer in the 78-66 loss.
Â
EYES ON THE RECORD BOOKSÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
• Three Toreros are approaching new career and single-season marks with eyes on the record books.
Â
• Senior forward
Patricia Brossmann has already entered the career record for total rebounds earlier this season and currently ranks 8th all-time with 624 boards. She's also 7th in offensive boards and 8th in defensive boards for her career.
Â
• Â
Myah Pace has ranked among the nation's and conference's best defensively this season. For steals, Pace is three shy from breaking San Diego's single season record with 82 on the year. The single-season mark was set by
Maya Hood during the 2015-16 season as she finished with 84.Â
Â
• Pace is also 10 takeaways shy of entering the career list. She will need to finish out the season with at least 162 to enter the top-10 all time in the category.Â
Â
• Senior
Madison Pollock is also edging on a few record marks. Pollock sits at 110 field goals on the year and will need 182 to enter the top 10 in the single-season category.Â
Â
• Pollock is also approaching a career mark in rebounds with 450 so far. 50 more boards would make Pollock a member of the 500-rebound club.
Â
INSIDE THE STANDINGS
• Despite San Diego's loss on the road to Santa Clara, the Toreros still sit in second place in the West Coast Conference standings.
Â
• The Toreros are currently tied with BYU, but would hold advantage over the Cougars for the two seed in a tiebreaker scenario.
Â
• The second seed would give San Diego a triple-bye during the WCC Tournament next month, making them only one win away from an appearance in the WCC Championship game to fight for the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Â
• A second-place finish in the conference also brings the Toreros into the WNIT conversation with the ability to earn an at-large bid after the conference tournament.
Â
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST LMU
• The Toreros will look to complete the sweep against LMU after beating the Lions 67-59 back in December.
Â
• San Diego holds advantage in the all-time series against LMU at 47-31. The Toreros are currently on a one-game winning streak in the series.
Â
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST PEPPERDINE
• San Diego will play Pepperdine for the second time this season after the Waves handed the Toreros their WCC opener loss on the road. The Toreros will look to snap a three-game losing streak as Pepperdine owns the   all-time series at 45-34.
