Toreros Wrap Up Play in Los Angeles

San Diego drops game one to No. 4 UCLA

Box Score LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Toreros (2-2) wrapped up the final day of action in Los Angeles with a 9-1 loss to No. 4 UCLA (6-0). San Diego's scheduled game against Cal Poly was then canceled due to rain at Easton Stadium.

In the matchup against the Bruins, junior Halle Kyler (0-1) got the ball to start for San Diego and took the loss. This marked Kyler's first appearance this season on the mound for the Toreros.

Senior catcher Madison Casiano paced the Toreros at the plate, hitting .500 in the contest with a double and an RBI. Fellow senior Sara Silveyra also furnished a noteworthy performance at the plate, going 2-for-2.

UCLA put together a couple of runs in the bottom of the first, but San Diego responded quickly the next half inning. Silveyra knocked a single into right field for the first hit of the game. Two batters later, Casiano came through with a two-out double to score Silveyra from first.

The Toreros would leave two more runners aboard in the fourth inning as the Bruins were able to tack on 15 hits on the day to walk it off in the bottom of the fifth for the run-rule victory.

San Diego is back in action on Friday in Lake Elsinore, Calif. for the Golden State Classic. The Toreros are slated to play four games over two days next weekend.
