Adams Named Alcalá Award Recipient

Senior earns award as part of 2020 graduation celebration

SAN DIEGO—Clare Adams was named a recipient of the Alcalá Award for the Class of 2020, as announced Monday by USD President James T. Harris III.
 
The Alcalá Award is presented to two seniors who have achieved the balanced and holistic development that is the goal of a University of San Diego education.
 
Adams, a senior on the women's rowing team, double-majored in International Relations and Spanish while at USD. The Minnetonka, Minn. native excelled in the classroom for the Toreros, earning WCC All-Academic first team honors in both 2018 and 2019.* In 2018, she posted the highest GPA for all of the WCC rowing athletes.
 
Adams raced with the varsity eight for three of her four seasons at USD and competed with the varsity four in 2018-19 and 2019-20. During that time, the Toreros recorded a second-place finish at the WCC Championships in 2019 and third place in 2018.
 
After graduation, Adams intends to volunteer with the Peace Corps.
