SAN DIEGO – Cal State Fullerton (2-2) connected on a running jumper with three seconds left to defeat the San Diego men's basketball team (3-2) on Friday, 57-55.
Senior forward
Marcellus Earlington led the Toreros with 16 points, with 14 of them coming in the first half.

Jase Townsend compiled 14 points, nine rebounds, and five assists in the loss.
Redshirt senior guard
Joey Calcaterra added 13 points, shooting 5-of-8 from the floor.
Graduate center
Terrell Brown-Soares grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked another four shots.
San Diego drops to 3-2 on the season, and will compete in the Las Vegas Classic next week against South Alabama.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- San Diego took an early 11-4 lead behind two triples from Earlington.
- The Toreros eventually made seven straight shots, including a triple from Townsend and a layup from Josh Parrish to take a 18-8 lead.
- Calcaterra sparked a 10-0 USD run with back-to-back three-pointers.
- The Titans made a run late in the first half, scoring six unanswered to bring their deficit to 36-24. The run ballooned to 12-3, including a triple at the buzzer to make it 39-30.
- San Diego shot 63% (15-24) in the opening half.
- Calcaterra and Townsend each hit corner threes to give the Toreros a 10-point advantage early in the second half.
- Cal State Fullerton later used a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 51-49. A three-pointer and a free throw tied the game at 51 with 3:15 left.
- Townsend buried two free throws to put USD back ahead with 1:50 remaining.
- A jumper with 50 seconds left tied the game, and Cal State Fullerton earned the win on a running jumper withs three seconds left.
