SAN DIEGO—No. 21 San Diego will play host to No. 16 BYU on Wednesday in the first of two matches this week, before traveling to face off again in Provo, Utah on Saturday.

The Toreros (11-1, 11-1 WCC) will face their first ranked opponent of the season in the Cougars (10-1, 9-1 WCC) for their only home-and-home series of WCC play.

LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros went 1-1 last week against LMU, sweeping the first match, 3-0, on Friday night and suffering their first loss of the season, 3-2, on Saturday evening.

• USD took the opening match over the Lions, 26-24, 25-21, 25-22. The Toreros were led by
Roxie Wiblin with 14 kills and
Grace Frohling with 10. San Diego collected 10 team blocks, led by
Elly Schraeder with six and Frohling and
Gabby Goddard with four each.
Laura Madill directed the offense to a .303 hitting percentage, while the defense held LMU to .193.

• In the second match of the weekend, the Toreros fell 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 21-25, 14-16. Wiblin led the offense for the second match in a row with 18 kills and
Thana Fayad finished with 16, but USD was held to its lowest hitting percentage of the season at .157. LMU collect 18 team blocks compared to 14 for USD, with Goddard, Schraeder and
Katie Lukes all collecting six blocks apiece.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST BYU
• Wednesday will be the 21st meeting between the Toreros and the Cougars. The all-time series is tied, 10-10, while USD took both matches last season 3-2 to clinch the outright WCC Championship.

• The teams first met during the 1996 season and USD has won three of the last five matchups.

• San Diego came in at No. 21 in the AVCA Weekly Coaches' Poll for week eight, after coming in at No. 18 the previous week

• The Toreros have appeared in the national top-25 poll for 23 consecutive seasons, with 22 top-10 appearances. USD's highest ranking was No. 2 overall (Sept. 16, 2013).

• Next up, the Toreros will return home for the final series of the regular season with two matches against No. 22 Pepperdine on March 26 and 27.

WIBLIN DOMINATES OUTSIDE

Roxie Wiblin came out of the gate swinging to begin her senior campaign. The 6-2 outside hitter has led the team in kills in nine of USD's 12 matches, including matching her career-high 20 kills against Portland (Feb. 10). Wiblin also leads the team with six double-doubles so far this season.

• Wiblin is hitting at a .295 clip and averaging 4.05 kills per set which ranks third in the WCC and 61st nationally.

MADILL LEADING THE CHARGE
• Junior setter
Laura Madill has directed the offense to a .273 clip, ranking second in the WCC and 21st in the country.

• USD is averaging 12.25 kills per set, ranking third in the conference and 68th in the NCAA. Madill is also averaging 9.49 assists per set which ranks fifth in the conference and 100th nationally.

DOMINATING DEFENSE
• The Toreros rank first in the WCC (53rd nationally) in blocks per set with 2.39 and sixth in the conference in digs per set with 14.93. USD has held its opponents to a .157 hitting percentage which ranks first in the WCC and 52nd in the country.

Elly Schraeder is leading the charge at the net, averaging 1.30 blocks per set to rank first in the WCC and 36th in the NCAA.
Lauren Turner also ranks in the top five in the conference with 1.06 blocks per set (5th).
