PROVO, Utah—No. 21 San Diego dropped a 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-17) contest against No. 16 BYU on Saturday afternoon in Smith Fieldhouse.

Roxie Wiblin led the Toreros (11-3, 11-3 WCC) in the rematch with the Cougars (12-1, 11-1 WCC), finishing with 12 kills and adding six digs.
Katie Lukes tallied seven kills, while
Kylie Pries added five and USD hit .130 as a team in the contest.

Defensively, the Toreros were led by
Annie Benbow in the back court with 10 digs and Pries added seven.
Gabby Goddard finished with a team-high three blocks (1 solo) and USD collected six team blocks on the day.

Isadora Terçariol tallied 29 assists for USD and
Thana Fayad and
Grace Frohling each recorded one of San Diego's two aces.

The Toreros had the early 5-3 lead before BYU tied the set 6-6. The teams traded a two-point advantage before a 16-16 tie. The Cougars then went on a five-point run to create some space late, and outscored USD 4-1 to close out the first set, 25-19.

It was a back-and-forth battle again to begin the second frame before a 9-3 run put BYU on top, 17-10. The Toreros pulled within three, 22-19, behind four kills from Wiblin but the Cougars took the second set, 25-21, and a two-set lead in the match.

It was all BYU to begin the final frame as the Cougars jumped out to an 8-1 lead. The teams battled back-and-forth before a six-point run by BYU made it 20-8. USD fought off five match points with kills from Pries and Wiblin and a solo block by Goddard, but the deficit proved too much as the Cougars finished it, 25-17, for the series win.

Next up, the Toreros will return home for their final series of the regular season. USD will play host to No. 22 Pepperdine on Friday and Saturday with both matches scheduled for 2 p.m. (PT).
