SAN DIEGO - San Diego softball (8-17) is set to open up West Coast Conference play at home against Pacific (10-9-1) on Saturday, April 10. The three-game series will feature double header action on Saturday followed by a single game at 11 a.m. (PT) on Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Toreros returned to the diamond for their first contests since March 21 and fell in double header action to California Baptist
- Courtney Rose took the loss in game one and fellow veteran Madison Earnshaw took the loss in her 10th start in game two
- San Diego looked to rebound in game two, getting within striking distance in the sixth inning before falling 7-1.
- Trailing by three, the Toreros first put a run on the board in the sixth inning. Freshman Malia Benson came across to score the lone run for San Diego off a suicide squeeze from Sophia Bjerk. The Toreros were unable to get any closer, as California Baptist added four runs to their tally in the seventh.
IN WEST COAST CONFERENCE OPENERS
- This weekend's series will mark the first WCC matchup since the 2019 season, where the Toreros finished 20-29 on the year
- The 2019 opening series was also against Pacific, as the Toreros swept the Tigers in three games
- Over the past four seasons, San Diego is 3-for-4 in opening WCC series and has won the past three straight
- The last opening series loss came against Saint Mary's in 2016
- San Diego opens WCC play at home inside the USD Softball Complex for the seventh straight season
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST PACIFIC
- Against the Tigers, San Diego holds a five-game advantage in the all-time series at 11-6
- The Toreros are also 6-1 at home versus Pacific and are on a three-game winning streak
TRENDING IN THE LINEUP
- Freshman Malia Benson has emerged in San Diego's offense, currently leading the team with a .304 batting average
- The lefty has a team-high .373 on base percentage with 14 hits and five runs on the year
- Lauren Hendrickson continues to lead the veterans in San Diego's lineup, hitting .254 on the year. Hendrickson went 3-for-6 in double header action this week with a double.
- She leads the team in the most multi-hit games on the year with five and ranks second in hits with 18Â
LOOKOUT FOR LEX
- Alexia Torculas has been a force on the base paths for the Toreros with a conference-leading nine stolen bases on the year
- The redshirt sophomore has only been caught stealing twice in 11 attempts, the most of any San Diego runner
- Torculas currently ranks third on the team in on base percentage (.310) and has accounted for six runs
