Graduate guard Eric Williams Jr. set a program record with 43 points, but the University of San Diego men's basketball team (3-1) fell to Utah State (4-0) in overtime, 91-89. Williams Jr. bests the previous USD record of 40, set by Robert "Pinky" Smith in 1972. Williams Jr. shot 13-of-20 from the floor, 7-of-8 from long distance, and 10-of-13 from the free throw line. He added 13 rebounds to notch a double-double for the third straight game. With 2.8 seconds remaining in regulation, Williams Jr. hit a fadeaway triple from the corner to send the game to overtime. Junior Sigu Jawara added 17 points, three rebounds, and three assists in the loss.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS

San Diego Christian is 1-2, including a 77-73 win over Saint Katherine on November 5. In its last game, the Hawks fell to Menlo, 73-61. Senior forward Greg Chew leads the team with 18.0 points per game, led by a 28-point outing in the regular season opener. Junior guard Jonah Felix is adding 15.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
