Toreros Softball Swept Nebraska in Doubleheader

Courtney Rose threw her first shutout of the season in game two

SAN DIEGO — The Toreros swept Nebraska with two consecutive wins resulting in a 4-2 score in game one and 4-0 final score in game two. Courtney Rose threw a shutout against Nebraska in game two with four strikeouts and only six hits allowed.

  • Madison Earnshaw started in the circle for the Toreros. 
  • Alexia Torculas singled to center field to kick off San Diego's offense in the bottom of the first. 
  • Izzy Owen singled off a bunt and Torculas advanced to second in the bottom of the first.
  • Amanda Limon fields a ground ball, steps on second, and throws to first for a double play.  
  • In the bottom of the second, Malia Benson singled up the middle. 
  • Bases loaded, Alexia Torculas was walked which sent Clareese Santiago home to score! San Diego leads 1-0 in the bottom of the second.

  • Malia Benson reached first on fielder's choice which sent Joecellia Roberts home to score! San Diego leads 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth. 
  • Ashley Daugherty singled to first base to send Savannah Alarcon home to score! San Diego leads 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth.

The Toreros travel to Norman, OK to compete in the Triple Crown Classic tournament against Sam Houston, Iowa, Houston, #1 Oklahoma, and Indiana. San Diego will first match up against Sam Houston on Friday, March 18 at 9 a.m. PT which marks the first contest in program history. Next, the Toreros will battle Iowa at 11:30 a.m. PT. San Diego holds an all time record of 0-1 with their most recent contest resulting in 3-1 loss on February 19, 2022.
