ELKHART, IN — USD swimming and diving completed its 2022 season on March 10, 11, and 12 with competition in the CSCAA National Invitational Championships in Elkhart, Indiana at the Elkhart Health and Aquatics Center. The Toreros took their largest group in program history to the three-day event, with eight San Diego athletes making the trip.

"The meet was a great experience and a great opportunity to go out to the Midwest and swim at a very high-level meet," USD head coach Mike Keeler said after the meet. "The athletes came through with big performances in their swims and had a great time."

San Diego's participation in the meet was highlighted by a season best in the 100 Yard Freestyle by junior Rachel Hubka (51.98), and a personal best in the 100 Yard IM by sophomore Jayne Brandt (59.45).

Junior Sam Eason just missed a personal best in the 200 Yard Fly with a time of 2:04.09, the best time the Savannah, Georgia native has set forth so far in a prelim.

The Toreros also saw success on the relay side of things, with Hubka, seniors Hannah Hudson and Alexa Phillips, and Brandt teaming up for a time of 3:27.35 in the 400 Free Relay that earned them a 22nd place finish out of 31 teams.

Freshman diver Jane Riehs helped her team with nine points, which she earned during the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships in Flagstaff, Arizona from March 7-9.

"I especially want to highlight our seniors," Keeler added. "Hannah Hudson and Alexa Phillips, finishing their careers with their best performances while being great leaders during the meet. It was exciting to see them finish up that way."
