SAN DIEGO — With three straight sweeps and wins in seven of its last nine matches under its belt, San Diego volleyball (7-6, 3-0 WCC) is set to return home this week, hosting Santa Clara (9-6, 1-2 WCC) and Pacific (10-5, 2-1 WCC) as West Coast Conference play continues at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
The Toreros will get things started on Thursday night with a 7:00 p.m. matchup against the Broncos, then wrap up their weekend on Saturday afternoon with a 12:00 p.m. contest opposite the Tigers. Both matches will be streamed live on ESPN+, with Braden Surprenant (Thursday) and Jack Cronin (Saturday) on the calls. Live statistics will be available on USDToreros.com
REMEMBERING LINDSEY LAMPERT
• Former San Diego volleyball standout Lindsey Lampert will be recognized with a moment of silence prior to both Thursday and Saturday's matches.
• Lampert, who starred for USD at middle blocker under head coach
Jennifer Petrie from 1998-2001, passed away recently after a battle with cancer. She was 42.
• A native of Long Beach, California, Lampert helped the Toreros reach the postseason in all four of her years at USD, including a 22-win season as a senior that saw San Diego reach the NCAA Tournament's second round.
• She was named USD's Team MVP in 2000 before leading the West Coast Conference with 104 total blocks and earning an All-WCC First Team selection in 2001.
FINAL FOUR BANNER TO BE UNVEILED
• A banner in the Jenny Craig Pavilion commemorating San Diego volleyball's 2022 run to the NCAA National Semifinal (Final Four) will be revealed prior to Thursday night's match.
• Led by National Coach of the Year
Jennifer Petrie and four All-Americans, San Diego volleyball rewrote the USD record book last year with 31 wins and just two losses. The Toreros' magical 2022 season included a perfect 18 and 0 record in West Coast Conference play, an NCAA-best 28-match win streak, and the program's first-ever trip to the Final Four.
LAST TIME OUT - USD EARNS ROAD SWEEPS AT GONZAGA AND PORTLAND
• The Toreros traveled to the Pacific Northwest this past weekend, sweeping both matches against Gonzaga and Portland.
• Against Gonzaga, the Toreros took all three sets with at least an 11-point margin, with help from
Amber Stivrins, who led the match with 13 kills and three service aces, while also notching her 1,000th career kill.
• San Diego volleyball outscored the Bulldogs 44-21 and had only five attack errors compared to Gonzaga's 18.
• The Toreros continued their dominance in their match against Portland, where they beat the Pilots 25-18 in set one, earned a 25-17 win in Saturday's second set, and prevailed 25-16 in the third to remain undefeated in West Coast Conference play.

Kylie Pries paced the match with 20 kills, turning in the strongest performance of her 2023 season to date as USD out-hit Portland .338 to .083.
Leyla Blackwell anchored the San Diego defense with a match-high four blocks, including one solo effort.
• Against Portland, Stivrins recorded 14 kills for her third straight game and her ninth double-digit kill performance in her last 10 games.
• As a team, USD hit .524 in the second set and .345 in the third set to give them their third straight conference sweep against Portland.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST SANTA CLARA
• The Toreros are 47-32 against the Broncos all-time. The most recent meeting between the two programs was on November 3, 2022, when USD earned a 3-0 sweep.
• The Toreros have won each of their last 16 matches against Santa Clara. Ten of those 16 wins were sweeps.
• San Diego last lost to the Broncos on November 1, 2014, dropping a tough 3-2 decision at Leavey Center.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST PACIFIC
• The Toreros are 21-1 against the Tigers all-time. San Diego has swept Pacific in each of the last two meetings between the two teams.
• USD last faced the Tigers on November 12, 2022, earning a 3-0 sweep in what marked Senior Day for the Toreros and their final regular-season home game that season.
Leyla Blackwell recorded a match-high 11 total blocks in the victory.
• San Diego's lone loss to Pacific in the series history between the two teams came on November 20, 2021 in Stockton, a tough 3-1 decision in favor of the Tigers.

PRIES NAMED WCC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
• On Monday,
Kylie Pries was named the University Credit Union West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
• Pries recorded 24 kills and six aces in the two victories at Gonzaga and Portland while averaging four kills per set and hitting .489.
• The senior outside hitter hit .545 and averaged nearly seven kills per set against the Pilots.
• It's the second weekly conference honor for Pries, who previously earned the award as a sophomore on September 13, 2021. She's the third Torero to receive weekly conference recognition this season after
Amber Stivrins (Offensive) and
Leyla Blackwell (Defensive) were selected in tandem on September 11.
LEYLA BLOCKS WELL
• San Diego native and La Jolla High School alum
Leyla Blackwell ranks 14th nationally with an average of 1.43 blocks per set.
• Her 60 total blocks through 13 matches in 2023 is the most on the USD roster and ranks second in the WCC.
• Blackwell, who is a six-time WCC Defensive Player of the Week after earning the honor on September 11, was a nominee for the conference's defensive player of the week honors last Sunday.
AMBER STIVRINS REACHES 1,000 CAREER KILLS
With her third kill on September 28 at Gonzaga, outside hitter
Amber Stivrins reached 1,000 in her college career.
• Stivrins, who joined the Toreros as a graduate transfer this summer, reached the milestone after totaling 169 kills as a freshman at Louisville (2019), 692 kills in three seasons at Georgia (2020-2022), and a team-high 163 kills as a Torero thus far in 2023, giving her a total of 1,024 across four-plus college seasons.
