SAN DIEGO – The San Diego softball program (9-17-1, 0-0 WCC) is back in action for four games this weekend at the USD Softball Complex, hosting Colgate (8-14, 0-0 Patriot) and South Dakota (9-13, 0-0 Summit) for two games apiece on Friday and Saturday.

• San Diego vs. Colgate – Saturday, Mar. 18 at 11:30 a.m.
• San Diego vs. South Dakota – Saturday, Mar. 18 at 2 p.m.

 
LAST TIME OUT

• The Toreros finished off a wild doubleheader against Harvard, winning game one 6-5 and finishing with a 2-2 tie in the second game after eight innings, due to rain.  
• Joecellia Roberts was the hero in game one, driving in five of the six Torero runs, including the game winning, three-run home run to earn a walk-off victory.
• Game two featured a sensational eight innings in the circle from Madison Earnshaw, who kept the Toreros in it, even as the rain picked up and run support slowed.

 
OPPONENT HISTORY

• San Diego leads South Dakota 2-1 in the all-time series, winning the last meeting 4-0 on Mar. 10, 2018.
• The Toreros are meeting Colgate for the first time in program history.

 
WHAT TO WATCH FOR

• San Diego has already played in 10 games separated by one run or fewer this season, with several additional games featuring late-game, high leverage situations.
• Izzy Owen was named the WCC Player of the Week on Monday for the second consecutive week, following a week where she hit .500 with three RBI and two doubles.
• Owen is off to a roaring start in the month of March, hitting .484 with 11 RBI and four doubles this month and has led the Toreros to a 6-3-1 record this month.
• The Toreros are 7-2 in games where they register two or more extra base hits.

 
TORERO TIDBITS

• Roberts enters the game off a career-day where she recorded a five RBI day which set a new career best.
• Earnshaw (291) sits in sixth all-time in strikeouts at San Diego and needs 21 more to pass Colleen Norman (311) for fifth.
• Earnshaw also became the eighth Torero to reach 100 appearances in her career in the circle and now sits in a tie for seventh all-time with Christina Haake. Next up is Jenny Lahitte (101) in sixth.
• Taylor Johnson continues to draw hit-by-pitches at an enormous rate, ranking 12th in the nation and first in the WCC in hit-by-pitches per game (0.41). Johnson has been hit 11 times in 27 games.
• Owen ranks second in the WCC in hits (30) and ranks in the top-75 nationally.
