SAN DIEGO – The San Diego softball program (15-23-1, 1-2 WCC) returns home to the USD Softball Complex after over three weeks on the road, playing host to WCC foe Pacific (9-18, 0-3 WCC) for a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday.
 
The Toreros will open with a doubleheader on Saturday at 12 p.m., and 2:30 p.m., before the finale on Sunday at 12 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT

• The Toreros finished with a doubleheader split at Saint Mary's, winning game one 7-0, before falling 2-0 in game two last Saturday.
• Izzy Owen drove in four runs in the game one victory, while Joecellia Roberts launched her team-leading fourth home run to pace the offense.
• Madison Earnshaw threw a gem in the circle to open the day, recording her 30th complete game and her 300th career strikeout as a part of a three-hit shutout in game one.

 
OPPONENT HISTORY

• San Diego is 17-7 all-time against Pacific and have won the last four meetings, including both against the Tigers last season.
• The Toreros have won three consecutive series against the Tigers.

 
WHAT TO WATCH FOR

• The Toreros are entering their second of five WCC series this weekend. The Toreros sit in fourth place and are two games out of first place.
• San Diego has already played in 13 games separated by one run or fewer this season, with several additional games featuring late-game, high leverage situations.
• The Toreros are 11-3 in games where they register two or more extra base hits.
• The Toreros are also 9-1 overall when they score six or more runs in a game. The Toreros won one of those games at Saint Mary's last weekend in a 7-0 victory.
• Alexia Torculas made her season debut at Saint Mary's after returning from injury. The redshirt senior was named to the All-WCC Preseason Team and is a key piece of the offensive puzzle.

 
TORERO TIDBITS

• The Toreros have already had four players take home five WCC weekly honors, as Emma Giaime, Owen (twice), Courtney Rose and Roberts have been honored by the league as either Player of the Week or Pitcher of the Week.
• Earnshaw (300) sits in sixth all-time in strikeouts at San Diego and needs 12 more to pass Colleen Norman (311) for fifth.
• Earnshaw also sits in a tie for fifth all-time in appearances with Tiffany Wasilewski (104). Next up is Cassidy Coleman (108) in fourth.
• Giaime has featured excellent control since entering the collegiate game and ranks second in the WCC in walks allowed per game (0.98), which also ranks 26th in the nation.
• Giaime also got off to a quick start at the plate in her first WCC series, leading the league with a .600 average (6-for-10) through her first three conference games.
• Taylor Johnson continues to draw hit-by-pitches at an enormous rate, ranking 12th in the nation and second in the WCC in hit-by-pitches per game (0.33).
• Owen ranks second in the WCC in hits (45) and ranks 72nd nationally. Owen also ranks second in the WCC in batting average (.381).
