SAN DIEGO – The San Diego softball program (14-21-1, 0-0 WCC) opens West Coast Conference play this weekend, traveling to Moraga, Calif., for three games against Saint Mary's (9-16, 0-0 WCC).
 
The Toreros will open with a doubleheader on Friday at 12 p.m., and 2:30 p.m., before the finale on Saturday at 12 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT

• The Toreros earned a comeback victory over Georgetown, but dropped two games at No. 20 Arizona at the Bear Down Fiesta in Tucson, Ariz.
• Emma Giaime continued to roll, throwing a complete game in the win over Georgetown, while also adding a three-run home run in the win. Taylor Johnson delivered the go-ahead RBI in the 7th inning.
• Mikalyn Emanuelli extended her on-base streak to 13 games and hit .500 over the weekend, with at least one hit in every game.

 
OPPONENT HISTORY

• San Diego trails Saint Mary's 50-73 in the all-time series, but has won the last two games.
• The Toreros took two out of three games from the Gaels in San Diego during last season's series.

 
WHAT TO WATCH FOR

• San Diego is looking to build on a fourth-place finish in the WCC last season.
• San Diego has already played in 13 games separated by one run or fewer this season, with several additional games featuring late-game, high leverage situations.
• Izzy Owen and Joecellia Roberts are looking to continue their tremendous form from the month of March.
• Owen tore the cover off the ball in March, hitting .448 with 11 RBI and six doubles this month and has led the Toreros to a 11-7-1 record during that span.
• Roberts is also rolling, hitting .353 with three home runs and 17 RBI. The sophomore has already set a new career-high in RBI and is the team's leader with 21 overall.
• Emanuelli is on a 13-game on-base streak which is a career high and season high by any Torero. Emanuelli is hitting .512 (21-for-41) with two doubles and two RBI over that span.
• The Toreros are 10-3 in games where they register two or more extra base hits.

 
TORERO TIDBITS

• The Toreros have already had four players take home five WCC weekly honors, as Giaime, Owen (twice), Courtney Rose and Roberts have been honored by the league as either Player of the Week or Pitcher of the Week.
• Madison Earnshaw (294) sits in sixth all-time in strikeouts at San Diego and needs 18 more to pass Colleen Norman (311) for fifth.
• Earnshaw also sits in sixth all-time in appearances with 103. Next up is Tiffany Wasilewski (104) in fifth.
• Giaime has featured excellent control since entering the collegiate game and ranks second in the WCC in walks allowed per game (1.02), which also ranks 34th in the nation.
• Johnson continues to draw hit-by-pitches at an enormous rate, ranking 14th in the nation and second in the WCC in hit-by-pitches per game (0.34). Johnson has been hit 12 times already this season.
• Owen ranks second in the WCC in hits (42) and ranks 66th nationally. Owen also ranks second in the WCC in batting average (.385).
• Owen finished with a .350 batting average (7-for-20) in seven games against Pac-12 opponents.
