LOS ANGELES — San Diego volleyball (1-4, 0-0 WCC) is set to begin its longest road stretch of 2023 this weekend, traveling to the Galen Center to take on Marist (2-4, 0-0 MAAC), UC Davis (3-3, 0-0 Big West), and USC (1-4, 0-0 Pac-12) as part of the Trojan Invitational.
The Toreros will begin the tournament on Friday with a 4:30 p.m. matchup opposite the Red Foxes, followed by a 3:30 p.m. tilt against the Aggies, and a 2:00 p.m. finale on Sunday versus the Trojans.
Friday and Saturday's contests will be streamed live on the web through USC, while Sunday's match will be broadcast on Pac-12 Los Angeles. Live statistics for all three matches will be available on USCTrojans.com.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST MARIST
• Friday afternoon's match will mark the first-ever volleyball contest between the Toreros and Red Foxes.
• USD and Marist both compete in the Pioneer Football League (PFL), a NCAA Division I-AA football conference comprised of non-scholarship programs across the country.
• Torero football is a dominant 15-0 all-time against the Red Foxes dating back to 2003.
• USD football will travel to Poughkeepsie, New York on October 14 for a matchup with Marist at Tenney Stadium as it vies for its 13th PFL championship, which would set a league record.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST UC DAVIS
• Saturday afternoon's match will mark the first-ever volleyball contest between the Toreros and Aggies.

• The Toreros are 4-12 all-time against the Trojans but have won each of the programs' last three matchups dating back to 2018.
• The two teams last faced off on September 17, 2021, with USD earning a gritty, five-set comeback win at Galen Center.
• Then ranked No. 21 nationally, USD jumped out to a 1-0 lead after taking the first set by a score of 25-22, then dropped the ensuing two sets by 25-20 and 25-13 margins. San Diego then took down USC by scores of 25-19 and 15-13 to secure the 3-2 decision.
LAST TIME OUT
• San Diego earned its first win of the season last time out against Boston College (September 2), closing out the USD Invitational at the Jenny Craig Pavilion with a 3-1 victory over the Eagles.
• USD dropped the first set by a score of 25-18 before prevailing in three straight sets (25-10, 25-18, and 25-20) to beat Boston College.

Leyla Blackwell led the match with season-high 16 kills while hitting .297, marking the second-most of her USD career. Her six block assists on Saturday night were tied for the match-high.

Kylie Pries was just behind with a season-high 14 kills of her own, also adding three block assists and 13 digs, which were just one shy of the USD lead.

Amber Stivrins totaled 12 kills, three service aces, five digs, and a block assist.
• Isadora Terçariol set a season high in assists (47) for the second consecutive match, falling just two assists short of her career high (49).
• Her four service aces on Saturday marked a career-high.

Madi Allen and Tercariol were tied for the team lead in digs, with the duo both posting 14 of them.

Olivia Bennett notched her sixth and seventh service aces of the season, tying her withÂ
Haylee Stoner for the team lead.

Maya Kitna played in all four sets and recorded the first kill, dig and block assist of her college career, ultimately finishing with three of each.
ACED IT
• USD's 11 total service aces against Boston College were a team season high and the Toreros' most since October 15, 2022, when they notched 12 at Saint Mary's.
• Terçariol, Stivrins, and Bennett all recorded multiple service aces last Saturday, including a career-high four from Terçariol.
• Stivrins and Bennett both recorded service aces on back-to-back points against the Eagles.
A MOTHER-DAUGHTER MOMENT
• Last Saturday's matchup between San Diego and Boston College in the Jenny Craig Pavilion was more than just the finale of the USD Invitational — it included a moment a lifetime in the making.
• Junior Boston College setter Jane Petrie is the daughter of USD head coach
Jennifer Petrie, and sealed the first set for the Eagles with a service ace before the Toreros rallied for a 3-1 win.
• Petrie, the 2022 AVCA National Coach of the Year, hosted BC for a team dinner earlier in the week and took a picture with her daughter and the rest of the Boston College team on the court following the match.
