Toreros Fall to Dons at Negoesco Stadium

San Diego drops tough 4-1 road decision to San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO — San Diego Women's soccer fell to USF by a tough 4-1 margin at Negoesco Stadium in San Francisco on Saturday night. Josefine Schlichting scored the Toreros' lone goal of the night in the 80th minute of play.

"We didn't meet our standard today, plain and simple," head coach Greg LaPorte said. "This team is built on resilience, we'll show that in how we bounce back. Credit to USF, they were sharp today and finished all their chances."

Second-year goalkeepers Ilise Medrano and Chloe Walls each played a half, totaling seven saves as a duo – five from the redshirt-freshman Walls with one goal allowed off the bench.

The Dons opened up the scoring in the 13th minute of play, and did not look back, scoring goals in the 24th, 28th, and 49th minute marks to claim a 4-0 lead.

Schlichting got one back for the Toreros in the 80th minute of play after a misplayed back-pass led to a USD shot that rebounded off the USF goalkeeper and bounced to Schlichting's feet for a first-time shot at the top of the 18-yard box, which she slotted home.

It marks the German's seventh goal of the season as she remains Las Toreras' leading goalscorer in a career season. She is also the fourth-highest goal scorer in the West Coast Conference in 2025.
