FRESNO, Calif — A tied-for-second-place 10-under finish from Jaden Cantafio led the way for USD golf on Tuesday afternoon as it won its second consecutive tournament and second tournament in the last two weeks, this time tying for first place in the Nick Watney Invitational at Sunnyside Golf Club in Fresno, CA.
The victory is the Toreros' third this season in new head coach
Evan Emerick's inaugural campaign after they also grabbed first place at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational on October 16 and The Prestige on February 19.
As a team, the Toreros totaled 829 strokes, with rounds of 279, 274, and 276, placing them 23 under par as they closed out the two-day event tied with host Fresno State.
Cantafio tied for second place individually, concluding the tournament with 204 total strokes across rounds of 69, 68, and 67. He was followed by true freshman Cooper Humphreys, who turned in a Top-10 performance of his own with rounds of 69, 68, and 70 (207) to finish 10th with a final score of -6.
Sophomore You Seong Choi was just behind Humphreys, carding a 209 across rounds of 69, 73, and 67 to finish T-11 with a final score of -4.
