PHOENIX — San Diego softball (5-7, 0-0WCC) dropped their third of five total games in Phoenix at the Purple Classic, falling to North Florida (12-3, 0-0 ASUN) by a 4-0 margin at the GCU Softball Stadium on Friday afternoon.Â
Kelsey Tadlock — making her third start of the season — helped San Diego keep the red hot Ospreys scoreless through the first three frames before UNF knocked a pair of RBI base hits in the bottom of the fourth inning to score three runs. Overall, she surrendered just three total hits to a North Florida lineup that has averaged over seven hits a game since the start of the 2026 season.Â
UNF scored their fourth and final run in the bottom of the sixth inning to give them a 4-0 lead that the Toreros could not relinquish.
The Toreros will be back in action tomorrow to conclude play in the Purple Classic with two games at the GCU Softball Stadium. Game one is set for 9:30 a.m. against the Montana Grizzlies, with the final game of the weekend being a rematch with the Ospreys scheduled for 3 p.m.
