PORTLAND, Ore. — San Diego men's basketball faces off with the Portland Pilots on the road in the 2025-26 regular season finale on Saturday afternoon.

THE PILOT RUNDOWN
• Portland is 12-18 on the season, an identical 5-12 in WCC play, tied with the Toreros for 10th ... The Toreros are locked into the 10 vs. 11 game on Thursday, March 5, while Portland has an opportunity at the No. 9 seed (would face No. 12 Pepperdine on Thursday) due to tiebreakers over LMU and Seattle U
• USD has dominated in the all-time series against the Pilots 62-37, winners of four of the last five meetings ... In last year's regular season finale, USD rallied from down 12 points to top Portland 82-80
This Season's First Meeting:
- USD posted a 71-58 win over a red-hot Portland side on Feb. 11 inside the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
- Trailing the Pilots at the half, San Diego was able to overcome the deficit by way of a stark contrast in 3-point shooting ... Portland went 2-19 (10.5%) from beyond the arc, while the Toreros were a strong 12-26 (46.2%), 7-13 (53.8%) in the second half ... The guests had a stretch of twelve straight missed triples, while the hosts had one of seven consecutive made.
- Leading the Toreros to victory was none other than senior guard Juanse Gorosito, who played the first two years of his collegiate career with the Pilots and was being celebrated for surpassing 1,000 career points, prior to the game ... The Argentine went for 19 points on 5-8 3-point shooting with five rebounds, five assists and three steals against his old allegiance.
- 3-pointers weren't the only demise of Portland, one of the WCC's hottest teams entering the game after an upset of No. 6 Gonzaga a week ago to the date and a walk-off of Seattle U three days later ... USD tallied 22 assists, 11 steals and again finished on the plus-side of rebounds with 12 offensive rebounds, nine in the second period.
LAST TIME OUT
- USD men's basketball erased an 8-point deficit with 39 seconds remaining in regulation and set a program record with 18 3-pointers, but went cold in overtime, ultimately falling 92-82 at Oregon State Wednesday night.
- In a game inside historic Gill Coliseum that featured 16 lead changes, the Toreros lived and died by the three, as the saying goes in basketball. They made a program-best 18 threes on 43 attempts (also a single-game record) – including four in the last 39 seconds of regulation to force OT – but went ice cold in that extra period, going 0-7 from beyond the arc and scoring just four points.
- Leading the USD scoring contingent were grad guards Toneari Lane with a career-high 24 points and Juanse Gorosito with 17, both hitting five triples. Junior forwards Assane Diop and Vuk Boskovic both made three threes. Grad Tim Moore Jr. finished in double figures while redshirt freshman forward Gavin Ripp notched career bests of five assists and four steals in a well-rounded San Diego defensive effort.
BREAKING THE 3PT RECORD ... AGAIN
• In an overtime loss at Oregon State on Feb. 25, they Toreros made 18 threes on 43 attempts (also a single-game record), including four in the last 39 seconds of regulation to force OT
• The 18 converted 3-pointers breaks the previous school record of 15 in a single game, done three times, last in the Toreros' 96-92 win over Washington State on Jan. 21 ... The 43 attempted threes breaks the previous program record set over a decade ago, by eight – the Toreros attempted 35 vs. CSUN on Dec. 23, 2015
TOP-10 SHARP SHOOTER
• Grad guard Toneari Lane ranks eighth nationally, first in the WCC, among qualified players in 3-point percentage at 44.7%
• The Atlanta native has made four-plus threes in each of his last four games (56.2% clip), six of his last eight games (51.7%) and eight of his last 11 (52.1%)
