SAN BRUNO, Calif. — First-year outside hitter Emma Brewer has been named the WCC Freshman of the Week for September 21, 2026, the West Coast Conference announced on Monday afternoon.

Brewer shined in both of San Diego's wins over the weekend, totaling 23 kills (3.29 K/S), 16 digs, seven blocks, two service aces, and an assist as the Toreros defeated both Arizona and San Diego State at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

She had 10 kills (3.33 K/S), an assist, two digs, and two blocks on Thursday night in a sweep of the Wildcats, then erupted for a double-double with 13 kills (3.25 K/S), a remarkable 14 digs (3.50 D/S), five block assists, and two service aces in Saturday's 3-1 victory over the Aztecs.

Brewer is the second Torero to earn a WCC weekly honor this season, joining junior Kylie Munday, who was named the conference's Setter of the Week on August 31. She is the first Torero to be named Freshman of the Week since Ava Durgan, who was recognized three times last season, most recently on November 3, 2025.

The Toreros will begin WCC play on Thursday night, when they host Saint Mary's at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. First serve against the Gaels is set for 7:00 p.m.
