Behind a three-hit shutout effort from Mustang pitcher's Jimmy Shull and Nolan Moser, Cal Poly SLO claimed the season opener for both clubs, defeating San Diego 3-0 Friday night. The USD offense registered three hits, two by Jose Ortega and one by Joey Prast (all singles). Senior Kyle Collins suffered the loss, lasting four complete innings allowing one run on four hits, despite striking out four. Shull was the pitcher of record for Cal Poly, working into the sixth and Moser came on to pick up the save. The series continues on Saturday at 1pm in Cal Poly's Baggett Staduim.
