LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The women's swimming and diving team traveled to take on the No. 16 UCLA Bruins swim and dive team at the Spieker Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon. The Toreros battled hard against the Bruins who defeated San Diego 195-95.
The 200 yard medley relay squad of Kristen Yoon, Sarah Geerdes, Jessica Rodriguez, and Kristina Levesque started off the opening event with a third place finish with a time of 1:50.93.
Freshman Sarah Geerdes lead the way for the Toreros with her effort in the 200 Medley as well as a second place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:53.30), the 100 freestyle (56.60), and the 100 butterfly (58.56) earning a total of 12 individual points for USD.
Senior Sarah Gleason swam a 10:53.74 in the 1000 freestyle earning fourth place for USD. Gleason later took third place in the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:19.23. Teammate Samantha Jafari captured second place in the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:15.40.
Senior Erin Voyles swam the 100 freestyle earning third place in a time of 54:40. Junior Kristen Yoon swam to a second place finish in the 200 backstroke in 2:11.62. Teammate Aileen Fedrick finished third behind Yoon in a time of 2:16.64.
Sophomore Amy Bogart earned a team high fourth place in the 1 meter diving competition with 206.91 points. Teammate Monica Oddo finished with 201.60 for fourth place in the 3 meter diving event.
San Diego returns to the pool on November 7 for the two-day UC Irvine Shootout in Irvine, California.
