Toreros Holding In Fourth Place After Day One

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The University of San Diego swimming and diving team wrapped up two events Wednesday at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opening the 2011 Championships with the 200 medley relay and ending with the 800 freestyle relay.

The Toreros are currently in fourth place overall with 62 points. UC Davis leads in 74 points, UC Santa Barbara are in second place with 72 and Cal Poly is in third place with 64 points.

In the 200 medley relay, San Diego finished in third place in 32 points for the Toreros. The relay squad (Kristyn Deckard, Sarah Geerdes, Kelly Stone, and Jacqulyn Kimmel) finished with a 1:43.38 mark just behind UC Santa Barbara (1st, 1:40.08) and UC Davis (2nd, 1:41.07).

In the 800 freestyle relay, USD finished in fourth place earning 30 points for San Diego. The relay squad (Francesca Finucane, Milica Ostojic, Melissa Andruzzi, and Sarah Geerdes) finished with a time of 7:34.17 behind UC Davis (1st, 7715.42), Cal-Poly (2nd, 7;21.24) and UC Santa Barbara (3rd, 7:22.23).

San Diego returns for day two of the MPSF championships in Long Beach, California on Thursday, February 24 all day.
