MONTEREY PARK, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's swim team concluded day three of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships on Friday at East Los Angeles College with three top-five finishes. Freshman Keenan Lineback took fourth place in the 400 IM, while senior Sarah Geerdes finished fourth in the 200 free and USD's A relay posted a fifth-place finish in the 200 free relay.
The day started off with Lineback clocking a 4:20.73 in the 400 IM. Melissa Andruzzi also took 10th in that event with a time of 4:23.50, while Eleanor Phillips finished in 14th at 4:30.20. Kelly Stone earned the Toreros' top finish in the next event, the 100 fly. Stone came in at 21st with a time of 57.59.
In the 200 free, Geerdes finished posted a time of 1:49.79, while Francesca Finucane finished right behind her in fifth place at 1:50.75. Taylor Noonan finished in 14th in that event with a time of 1:52.85.
Kristyn Deckard was USD's lone entry in the 100 back. Deckard finished in 23rd place with a time of 59.70. In the last event of the day, USD's A relay (Kimmel, Finucane, Andruzzi, Geerdes) captured fifth in the 200 free relay by posting a time of 1:35.20.
In the diving competition, senior Heather Hippensteel took third in the one-meter consolation final with a total of 218.65 points.
Overall, the Toreros were in fifth place after three days of competition with 223 total points. BYU leads with 490.5 points, followed by UC Santa Barbara (482 pts.), Cal Poly (342.5), and UC Davis (337).
The final day of competition is Saturday with prelims set for the morning followed by finals in the evening.
