AUSTIN, TX. - The University of San Diego women's rowing team capped off a successful weekend at the Longhorn Invitational by sweeping all four of their races on Sunday morning. The Toreros' second varsity four opened the day with a win over Central Florida, coming in at 8:19.2 with UCF trailing at 8:27.0.

Later in the morning, the varsity four finished nearly 50 seconds ahead of SMU by clocking a time of 8:34.8, while SMU came in at 9:25.4. The second varsity eight then went on to defeat SMU by finishing in 7:33.2, with SMU coming in behind them at 7:58.7.

The varsity eight wrapped up the strong day on the water with their finish of 7:23.0 that bested SMU's 7:38.0.

Overall, the Toreros won a total of 10 races against five different crews over the three-day event on Lady Bird Lake. Facing a stiff headwind all weekend long didn't prevent USD from claiming two wins against Oklahoma (2V4, V4) on Friday, another win against the Sooners on Saturday morning (2V4).

One of the highlights from the weekend came with the two wins against Kansas State on Saturday morning. In the V8 the Toreors crossed the finish line first a head by 6 seconds. The 2V4 finished ahead of Texas on Saturday afternoon, and the four wins against UCF and SMU to cap it off on Sunday.

"This was the second year we have seen strong racing at the Longhorn Invitational. Its always good for us in the early season to travel and test some lineups to see where we are against those programs," said head coach Kim Cupini.

"Our team loves going to the Longhorn Invite and racing on Lady Bird Lake," said senior Gina Schneider. "This weekend gave us some great race experience early on in the season and a chance to mix up some lineups. I was most proud of our 2V4 boat going undefeated and proving the depth of our program. We're excited to train hard and gain speed before the Crew Classic in two weeks."

USD returns to the water on Mar. 31 and Apr. 1 for the San Diego Crew Classic on Mission Bay.
